Glands in the upper eyelids which produce aqueous tears (the watery middle layer of the tear film).
DISCUSSION
The lacrimal glands are a very important part (though not the only part) of the lacrimal system. They produce the watery part of the tear film. Underproduction of aqueous tears by the lacrimal glands is a serious form of dry eye syndrome and has many potential causes.
